Master List of CLTs in the United States

Compiled and classified by Burlington Associates and by Kirby White of Equity Trust, with the generous assistance of Julie Orvis and Jeff Yegian of ICE, this Master list of Community Land Trusts in the United States, is current as of August 1, 2005. It includes all nonprofit corporations in the United States that are known to have incorporated into their organizational structures and operational programs key features of the “classic” CLT. These CLTs are classified according to whether they currently hold residential real estate, whether they are actively managing their holdings, and whether they are still adding to their holdings. This classification is based on the best information presently available. Because the world of CLTs is constantly changing, however, some CLTs that are actively managing their portfolio may have been incorrectly classified as “dormant;” some CLTs that are still adding to their holdings may have been incorrectly classified as “not growing;” and so on.
